Good camera habits
Taking good photos starts with your knowledge of your camera, and you can only gain this by going out in the field and shooting as much as possible. We get lost in the gear side of photography with all the specifications of what my camera is capable of and what megapixels and frames per second it has, and so on. however the most important thing is to use your camera as much as possible. I find that using my camera in a specific order with a run through of steps, ensures that i get the best from my camera. By doing these steps evertime i press the shutter i become more efficient, and more aware of my actions. My muscle memory has improved and these steps have become second nature, as they just fall in place one step after the other.
I have came across many photographers who are on location, trying to take a shot and can’t remember what button did what, or why is my camera not focusing, and they panic, as the moment is then lost. When you have good camera habits it becomes like driving a car, most of the time you dont even think about your gear chages, as they become second nature and you can totally focus on where you are going. the same with taking an image, you dont have to get lost in all the buttons and settings, you can just focus on taking the image. So getting familiar with your camera is a must.
Below is a runthrough guide on what steps i take to get my shots.
